About iFest Contemporary Irish Festival:
The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in South Boston turns everyone in the city Irish for a day, and now there is another reason to don the green: iFest Contemporary Irish Festival. This Boston Event includes 3 days of art, food, drink, sports, culture, and more. It’s a chance to become immersed in all things Irish without having to leave the city. Seaport World Trade Center will house iFest, and attendees will be treated to the sights, sounds, and tastes of the Emerald Isle.
Three stages will feature performances of Irish music and dance, but you don’t have to be satisfied with just watching the action. You can take part in Riverdance master classes. Whether you’ve never participated in Riverdance before, or you want to hone your skills, there will be a class that is suitable for you. Other master classes and panel discussions on a variety of topics will also be available. John Grenham of the hit show “Who Do You Think You Are?” will be on hand providing master classes on genealogy, so you can learn to trace your own Irish roots.
See exhibits from the National Archives about the Irish in America, and attend interesting panel discussions and screenings of Irish television shows. Irish sports will also be a big part of this Boston Event. Watch highlights of important moments in sports from the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), test your strength at the hurling simulator, and meet some of the top current sport stars from the GAA.
Two of Ireland’s top chefs, Darina Allen and Kevin Dundon, will join Boston chef Barbara Lynch to create Irish cuisine which will be available for tasting. Enjoy a selection of fine craft beer and whiskey. Participate in tasting events, visit the Guinness 2020 Bar, or watch live cooking demonstrations in the Chef’s Theatre. Roam through iFest Village where you can see some of the best produce and other goods from Ireland. You can even enjoy high tea featuring the creations of Maura Kilpatrick – Boston’s #1 pastry chef.
Learn about Irish literature at the iFest Literary Salon where you will have the opportunity to learn about the latest works from both Irish and American authors. Enjoy lively debate and discussions about many facets of Irish culture.
Tickets to this Boston Event are sold in 5 hour blocks, and cost $30 per session. Family packages which admit 2 adults and 2 children are also available for $140. Admission includes all of the activities offered at iFest. Tickets can be purchased online, and you should reserve your desired time slot as it is possible some will fill up.
