The city where Paul Revere began his famous midnight ride knows how to celebrate Independence Day.
In fact, four of this city’s major professional sports teams – The Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins – have won a combined 38 championships, far and away the most by any group of pro sports teams in any city in the country. This is why Boston can rightfully claim the nickname “Titletown”.
Beginning in 1957, the Boston Celtics, led by their legendary coach and general manager Red Auerbach, won 11 World Championships in only 13 years. Hall-of-Fame center Bill Russell was the team’s statistical and emotional leader throughout this era and he still holds the record as the NBA player with the most championships — 11. Perennial contenders, the franchise now has 17 championship banners hanging high above the famous parquet floor of their home court, TD Garden. If you are wondering how to buy Celtics tickets, consider visiting the NBA’s website or speak with one of our Concierges to learn about your best options.
The Boston Bruins, established in 1924, are the oldest NHL team in the country and one of the league’s “original six”. From the early days of Eddie Shore to the ‘60s and ‘70s when defenseman Bobby Orr skated circles around the opposition, the Bruins have always been one of the NHL’s most successful franchises. During the ‘80s and ‘90s, Cam Neely was the heart and soul of the team, while today’s squad is led by all-star captain Patrice Bergeron. To date, the Bruins have won six Stanley Cups, one of the oldest trophies in professional sports and considered by many to be the most iconic.
The games regularly sell out, so plan early if you are looking for Boston Bruins tickets. TD Garden, home to both the Bruins and Celtics, is located right downtown. If you have questions about tickets, where to enjoy a great meal before the game or getting to the Garden, speak with one of our Concierges. The arena is accessible by car, cab or subway, known as the “T”. Arlington Station is just a block from our property and a quick 15-minute ride, making Boston Park Plaza one of the most convenient hotels near TD Garden.
The New England Patriots play in Gillette Stadium, just a 40-minute drive from our hotel. Led by Quarterback Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick, both legends in the making, the team won its first Super Bowl in an emotional victory following the 2001 season. The Patriots are now six-time Super Bowl winners, the most of any team in professional football history. During the season, our Concierges are often asked how to get tickets to Patriots game. As the team plays just eight regular season home games, acquiring tickets may need a bit of planning, but it’s well worth the effort given the energy and excitement in the stadium.
If you’re visiting in the spring to see the Red Sox, Boston Park Plaza is one of the best hotels near Fenway Park. With our central location and dedicated staff, let us be your home team for sports in Boston.
