From Our Blog
Boston is one of the best wedding destination cities in the country.
A vibrant hub of culture and activity, our city offers a wealth of options to appeal to all your out-of-town guests. And no property is better located for a Boston wedding than Boston Park Plaza. Steps from The Common, and in the heart of it all, our property’s timeless elegance and uncompromising level of service make it a sought-after Boston wedding venue for an unforgettable day of celebration
Kelsey Wilkinson, our Wedding and Social Events Planner is an expert at ensuring every detail is just right. “I love working with couples to help make their wedding day extra special,” she says. Considering Boston as your destination for your special day? Here are some of Kelsey’s professional tips.
Kelsey says her number one tip is to give your guests lots of notice. “Send out the ‘save the date’ as early as possible,” she says. It helps guests plan for your day and gives you a better idea of the number of people you’ll be welcoming.
Along with your Save the Date notice, consider adding some suggested itineraries for those travelling for your wedding. Boston is a one-of-a-kind city, so if your wedding is on a weekend, include itineraries from Wednesday through Monday that may inspire your guests to stay a few extra days to take in all that our city has to offer.
For sports fans, include a link to ticket sites such as StubHub, so your guests can take in a baseball game at historic Fenway Park, or hockey or basketball at TD Garden.
History buffs will be coming to a city made just for them. Let them know how close they are to The Freedom Trail, and the wealth of locations that are at the heart of our country’s story.
If your guests are foodies, then help them make the most of their time in our city with links to the selection of Italian food waiting to be discovered in the North End, or places for Boston’s famous clam chowder or lobster.
Do you have favorite places in town? Kelsey suggests including your own hints and tips. And if there’s a restaurant that has a special meaning for you, maybe where you had your first date, add that too. Personalizing the itineraries allows your guests to feel more connected to your unique love story.
When you start planning your wedding, Kelsey recommends making two estimates of attending out-of-town guests — a high number and a realistic number. This step helps to ensure the property blocks off the appropriate range of rooms for your celebration. She also advises considering some locals who may want to spend the night at the hotel too.
Whether you’re planning an intimate gathering or a celebration with 300 guests, Kelsey and her team can help with your plans, both on and off property. From your rehearsal dinner through the ceremony, reception and even brunch the next day, our property’s incomparable location, selection of customizable spaces, and our team’s professionalism make Boston Park Plaza one of the best wedding venues in Boston.
