 As the calendar turns to February, thoughts turn to planning something special with someone special. On any day, especially Valentine’s Day, Boston offers romantics a range of choices to make time together magical. 

Let the great composers carry you away

Does listening to wonderful music inspire thoughts of romance? Then consider an afternoon or evening with the renowned Boston Symphony. From February 9 -12, celebrated young English cellist, Sheku Kanneh-Mason will make his debut with the BSO. The following week, Israeli conductor Lahav Shani and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet from France perform Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff and Saint-Saëns. Performances are at the Symphony Hall, just minutes from Boston Park Plaza.

On Valentine’s Day itself, enjoy music from our country’s next generation of talented musicians. Berklee College of Music is offering five concerts on February 14, from folk, R&B and soul, to Afro-Peruvian jazz. It’s a feast for music lovers. As these are student-led concerts, admission is often free.

Sip your way to romance 

Boston is one of the great cities in our country for wine bars. Choose from one of the many locations near our property, and you can plan a delightful evening, trying different vintages and learning more about your partner’s preferences. It’s a win-win. 

Enjoy an evening stroll across the Public Garden to Beacon Hill, where you’ll find Bin 26 Enoteca on Charles Street. They offer an extensive selection of wines by the glass, as well as a robust dinner menu of Italian favorites. An evening here is an opportunity to explore the terroir of vineyards from around the world. 

Bistro du Midi, located across from the Public Garden is renowned for its extensive wine cellar. The street-level restaurant transports you to the casual, beloved bistros of France, where you can choose from a curated selection of wines by the glass. Or make reservations for a special meal upstairs in the more formal dining room.  

Step from our lobby into Strega Italiano. The restaurant blends the feel of a contemporary steakhouse with a sophisticated lounge. Choose from the inspired menu of Italian classics, an extensive list of wines by the glass, and creative cocktails. It’s a vibrant destination for a stylish evening. 

Skate under the stars

As February in Boston usually promises cool evenings, consider outdoor ice skating on the Frog Pond in Boston Common.  It is open until at least 9:00pm every evening (except on Monday, when it closes at 3:45pm) and skate rentals are available. Ice skating on Frog Pond gives you a great reason to hold hands with your favorite person, while taking in the city skyline.
