Tee It Up in Boston

Boston is an active city year-round. From winter skating on The Boston Common Frog Pond to sunny afternoons at Fenway Park and everything in between, there is always something to do to enjoy our surroundings. One of the oldest outdoor sporting traditions in Boston is golfing.

The history of golf in Boston is nearly 150 years old and The County Club, founded in nearby Brookline in 1882, is one of the country’s oldest courses. It has hosted 17 USGA national championships including the 2022 US Open, when Mark Fitzpatrick edged out Will Zalatoris and 2022 Masters Champion Scottie Scheffler to win by just one stroke.

Boston Park Plaza is the ideal hotel when you’re looking to enjoy some golf on your vacation. Not only are many of the city’s (and nation’s) best courses within easy driving distance, our property offers a convenient Topgolf location. The Topgolf Swing Suite is within Lynx Fitness, just off our lobby, offering three full-service simulators in the luxurious 2,000 square foot golf lounge. You can choose from one of more than 90 celebrated courses to play. It’s an immersive experience that can transform and elevate the game of beginners and experienced players. You can even book a lesson with a PGA-certified instructor. For golf-lovers, it’s not to be missed.

For those who love to explore local courses, here is our curated guide to where to golf in Boston.

Known to locals as ‘The Wright”, this may be one of the best public courses anywhere. Highly walkable (and very affordable), the course’s terrain winds through rocky outcrops, similar to The County Club. The greens here are renowned as exceptional, making it a must visit.

About a 45-minute drive from downtown Boston, this course is “well worth going out of your way for,” according to Golf Digest. A forested course with spectacular bunkers, blind dog legs, and a variety of elevations, Red Tail will challenge all abilities.

This club offers two 18-hole championship courses, one designed by Rees Jones and the other a Nicklaus Design layout. A local favorite since it opened, the Pinehills courses offer architecturally interesting designs, exceptional practice facilities, and a gorgeous clubhouse.

Opened in 1922, this ‘sleeper’ course is a stately fourth generation owned golf club just a 30-minute drive from Boston Park Plaza. Its traditional Ross design will test both professionals and amateurs alike. The Par 72, 6,427-yard course is a great walk, but carts are available.

Located in the town of Quincy, just 25 miles south of Boston, this delightful and quirky par 70, 5,700-yard course was named in honor of President Adams who hails from the town. Though a shorter course, the small greens will test even the best players.

If you have any questions about where to golf in Boston, contact one of our Concierges. And if you want to warm up your swing before hitting the course, be sure to book time at Topgolf in Boston, just off our lobby, then enjoy your day on one of Boston’s great courses.
