A short stroll from Boston Park Plaza is the acclaimed Public Garden and The Common, where a range of activities awaits.
Stepping onto the classic Frog Pond Carousel is stepping back in time to the simple joys of a merry-go-round. It is open from the end of April through the fall, from 10am – 6pm. Tickets are available at the carousel.
Another beloved activity is a ride on the Swan Boats in the Public Garden. Operating since 1877, the boats are an icon of Boston. Sit back and enjoy fun of being transported across the water. Tickets are purchased at the Swan Boat dock before boarding. No reservations are required.
Just a 10-minute drive from our property, the Boston Children’s Museum is a much-loved destination for local families and visitors. Each day the museum offers a variety of hands-on, fun and creative activities that incorporate science, music, art and more. In addition, guests have access to all the exhibits. It’s a unique, creative and inspiring place. The Museum is open from Wednesday through Sunday. Each day offers two time slots to visit: 9am–12pm and 1:30–4:30pm. Advance tickets are required.
Only 15 minutes from our property, by the Charles River is the Museum of Science, with activities to capture the imagination of guests, no matter their age. The Charles Hayden Planetarium allows visitors to take in the magic of our solar system. For the youngest astronomers, Big Bird and his friends from Sesame Street offer an introduction to the planets. Exhibits range from Science in the Park to the ever-popular Dinosaurs. A timed ticket is required for entrance to the Museum of Science and additional tickets are required for some of the exhibits and activities.
Located near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, the New England Aquarium is a family favorite. Kids of all ages delight in the exhibits from the Giant Ocean Tank to penguins and fur seals, lionfish, loggerhead sea turtles and more. The Aquarium is a vibrant destination for those curious about the marine life of our planet. It is open every day, with extended hours in the summer. Advance tickets are strongly recommended.
The Museum of Fine Arts has regular activities designed to inspire, educate and entertain, with programs specially designed for kids. Consider a workshop for your budding artist at one of the studio art classes. It’s also a great place to visit as a family. Their activity cards make the art accessible and interesting for everyone. The museum is just a 10-minute ride from our property, and is open Thursdays through Monday, from 10am – 5pm. Tickets are available for purchase online or in person at the Museum.
About 25 minutes south of Boston Park Plaza is The Franklin Park Zoo. Covering 72 acres, it has space for a variety of animals. The petting zoo provides an up-close visit with donkeys, goats, sheep and more. Gorilla Grove, the zoo’s brand-new outdoor habitat, allows visitors to be awed by the majestic gorillas. On warmer days, the Giraffe Savannah offers views of these gorgeous animals grazing, alongside zebras. Advance tickets are required.
